Royden Roger Nawai HUSSEY

Uncle Royden was hanai to his aunt Emily Hussey Kekoolani and her husband Nawai Kekoolani.


(Niau'pio Chief) LUPEKAPUKEAHOMAKALII (LUPE-KAPU-KE-AHO-MAKALI'I)

Acccording to Kamakau, an ali'i kapu and ali'i pi'o.


(Ruling Queen of O'ahu) KALANIMANUIA (KALANIMANUIA I, KALAI-MANUIA, KALAI-MANEIA)

She is a Kumuhonua chiefess. "Kalanimanuia (Kalai-manuia)" is the way Kamakau renders her name. He gives both names with the second in parenthesis.


(Ruling Chief of O'ahu) KU-A-MANUIA (KUAMANUIA)

Ku-a-Manuia is the name given by S.M. Kamakau.  Groomed to be the Haku Ali'i (overlord chief, high chief) of Waikiki according to Kamakau. At her death, his mother Kalanimanuia (Alli-o-ka-moku, Ruling Chiefess of O'ahu) appointed him Ruling Chief of all O'ahu over his brothers and sister. She deeded him the lands of Ko'olaupoko and Kona.


KEKELA (KEKALA-A-MANUIA)

Kekela is the name used by S.M. Kamakau.  At her death, her mother Kalanimanuia (Alli-o-ka-moku, Ruling Chiefess of O'ahu) deeded her the lands of Wai'alua and Ko'olauloa under the supervision of her older brother Ku-a-Manuia, who was appointed Ruling Chief over all O'ahu.
