GEORGE HUMPHREYS ROBERTSON - 1854-1919  born and died in Hawaiian Islands

Second son of George Morison and Sarah Humphreys Robertson (of Huntly, Scotland), he differed from his older brother in that he was much more interested in  business. He was spoken of as the "business head" of the Robertson clan in Hawaii.

Born in a small cottage at the corner of Merchant and Alakea Streets, when that area was a residential part of old Honolulu.  He attended Punahou School, and even as a small boy started as a part-time employee of C. Brewer & Co., a firm with which he remained for almost 60 years.  He advanced in employment until he became vice president and manager.  C. Brewer & Co. were sugar factors and commission agents, the oldest American business institution west of the Rocky Mountains, established in 1826.

George married Caroline Hawea Boyd, member of a part-Hawaiian family prominent during the period of the Hawaiian monarchy.  Theirs was a rich family life and George was a devoted and indulgent parent to four daughters and one son.

I'm planning to visit St. John in mid September to search for family members if they still live in the area and I wanted to try to make some connections before my trip. My name is George Humphreys Robertson and my great great grandfather George Morison Robertson came to Hawaii in 1844 via St. John where his uncle James Robertson and older brothers Alexander and James lived and had a ship building business. George was born in Huntley, Scotland.

His brother Alexander married Anne Partelow in May, 1833 and their children were John, Annie (Ewing), Mary, Alexander, Isabel, Helen (Chipman), and Margaret (Raymond).

His brother James married Margaret Nisbet in 1840 and their three children were Thomas Nisbet, William George, and James Walker. Tom's home was "Athole Cottage," Westfield on the slopes of the St. John River. William had a home at Mahogany and St. John.

I have additional names of descendents of the above, some of whom apparently lived in New Brunswick. If you could help me with some kind of lead toward connecting with Robertsons in the area I would be most grateful. I have a lot of information about Robertsons in Hawaii who descended from my great great grandfather and would be happy to share it.
