According to "THE BAKER CLAN":
Pupuhi was a Tahitian missionary who came to Hawaii an April 4, 1823 during the reign of Kamehameha II, with teh Reverend William Ellis and two other young Tahitian missionaries.
However, the genealogies give us a full Hawaiian pedigree. Perhaps the story is partly true and Puphi was a Hawaiian missionary who went to Tahiti with Ellis.
